Today I was looking for interesting things to share with you, I was studying the internet, and I came across a thread that really caught my interest.

It’s about grocery stores in the United States, how they’re set up like an “optical illusion” and how, in reality, this massive spread of nearly 40,000 different products is actually a magic trick.
It’s an illusion of smoke and mirrors.
All of these brightly colored boxes, with delicious names and mouth-watering pictures, are part of a well-crafted marketing ploy of about 10 companies.
A Twitter account named “Solozo”Put together a really interesting thread on this topic, and I read it and it really hit a jack with me, so I thought you might be interested to read it too.

Here is what Solojo said:
Your average grocery store has been exclusively owned by 10 companies. Here’s what the hell is going on and what you can do about it.
When you go to the average supermarket you are overwhelmed by the choice. The average supermarket now has over 40,000 products. Bright vibrating box and package shelves trash. The options are seemingly limitless.
Little do you know, this is nothing more than an optical illusion. Our modern industrial food system has created a “delusion of choice” that has fooled you. Stay with me here.
As you can see, these 40,000 products are not controlled by the thousands of different companies that compete for their position in the market… they are controlled by about 10 companies.
To take this one step further, there are 5 companies that control 40% of the groceries in your shopping cart. These include: Craft Heinz General Mills Canagra Unilever Delmont Take a look at the portfolio of brands that control these behemoths in the following visuals:
Most of these products are found in the inner isle of the grocery store. These are really a variety of the following: refined sugars, grains, seed oils and artificial flavors. Nutritious weapon of mass destruction designed to make you sick.
These products are fueled by the industrial food system that we are now captive to. They pay no nutritional value at all and have created the biggest metabolic health crisis in the country so far.
Before 1950, America focused on eating real food. We ate meat, fish, eggs, fruits, vegetables, dairy foods. We cooked with long, lard, butter and real cooking fat. As you can see, our collective health as a nation now reflects the quality of the food we eat.
Since the 1970s, there has been an explosive growth in industrial food. We have found cheap ways to combine corn, wheat, grains, sugars to feed our growing country. However the cost has been the metabolic bankruptcy of our nation.
The growth of M&A in the food industry has also been insane. This web shows the aggregation that takes place between large meals. There are about 10 companies controlling the products that you will find in grocery stores.

In addition, there are 4 meat processors that control more than 80% of the meat we eat. These include: Cargill, Tyson, JBS, National Beef, their market share allows them to charge you extra from the consumer and the cattle breeder to charge less.
Even the supermarket itself has become centralized. In the past, you used to source your food from local or regional grocery stores. Today – Walmart, Costco, Kroger, and Ahold Delhais make up 65% of all US supermarkets.
The epidemic itself was great for supermarkets because it gave them the easy advantage of buying struggling regional chains.
Almost all of these companies are publicly traded. This means that they have a fiduciary responsibility to pay their shareholders as much as possible. They will combine the cheapest and most addictive ingredients and flavors to make you addicted.
These companies make billions of dollars every year and have the potential to market endlessly to your kids. A recent study found that the average child watches TV for more than 3 hours a day. At that point they will face 23 ads for sugary and fatty foods.
They also understand how to create so much variety of flavors that you are overwhelmed by the choice. They play with nutrition labels and deliberately confuse. For example, sugar can be hidden under 75 different names.
They can also pay for the titles “heart healthy” and “low fat” to mislead the unsuspecting consumer that the product is healthy with sugar and processed fillers.
Statistics show what our industrial food system has done to us: 88% of U.S. adults are considered to be metabolically unhealthy 7 out of 10 deaths are now chronic diseases (food and lifestyle related) Obesity treatment costs $ 200 billion in the United States
I am writing this thread so that you can understand the levers drawn behind the screen. The huge amount of power controlled by a small group of people leads to corruption. You, the consumer, are the victims of all this.
It doesn’t have to be this way. You are even more powerful than you realize. You can vote with your dollars. You can choose to buy real food. You can choose to buy from your local farmer. We can create a whole new system.
I guarantee you have a local farm within miles of where you can buy your meat, fish, eggs, fruits and vegetables. By doing this you will create a whole new system. Your dollars go directly to your farmer – not to a corporation.
I think this person is wonderful, and I think that thread is very wise.
Some of those things I already knew, but I learned one or two things and were reminded of the things I forgot.
Man, wherever you turn, we are being controlled and controlled by a “group” of elites.
