Following the Supreme Court’s decision to dismiss Rowe v. Wade, Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, requested a briefing from the FBI on how it handled the violence by pro-abortion protesters.
In a letter to FBI Director Christopher Weir on Monday, Grassley – a ranking member of the Judiciary Committee – commented.
“I am writing to express concern about the recent wave of violence perpetrated by pro-abortion extremists and groups across the country,” Grassley said. The draft Supreme Court ruling in the Dobs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which was finally published on June 24, 2022, which restores abortion control in the states, has been leaked, increasing these attacks even more frequently.
“As we discussed earlier, I want to make sure that the FBI recognizes these violent attacks – examples of violent extremism involving abortion – and is properly investigating them.
“Since the Dobbs leaked and before the court handed down its final verdict, there have been at least 40 violent attacks on crisis pregnancy centers, religious institutions and other lifelong organizations. Across the country, the violence has resulted in injuries, property damage, and disruptions to religious practices protected by the constitution. After the feedback, it actually picked up speed last weekend.
The law of our country must be upheld by our law enforcement personnel with fidelity, not only politically expedient for the current administration. I will never waver in my commitment to ensuring that all sides of the political spectrum are treated equally when it comes to law enforcement. The threat of extremists today is imminent, serious and dangerous.
According to the Washington Examiner, last week, protesters opposed the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Rowe v. Wade.
