More news: The 26-year-old NFL linebacker died suddenly

TMZ reports that NFL legend Tony Siragusa has died at the age of 55, his former Baltimore Ravens teammate Jamal Lewis has confirmed to TMZ Sports.
“It’s a painful day for a Raven I would say,” the former running back said Wednesday.

The cause of death of the former defensive lineman has not yet been revealed.

Syracuse – a 6-foot-3, 340-pound defensive tackle – initially entered the NFL as an undefeated free agent with the Indianapolis Colts in 1990 and became a full-time starter in the 1992 season.
In 1997, he signed with the Baltimore Ravens… and became an important part of the Legends 2000 team that won the Super Bowl XXXV.

Playing with Ray Lewis, Rod Woodson and Adelias Thomas, Syracuse – nicknamed “Guz” – helped Raven Defense to set a record for the lowest points allowed in a regular season on the way to a title win.

In his 12 years in the league, he has compiled 22 sacks and 564 combined tackles.

Following his playing career, Syracuse gained national fame for his role as NFL sideline reporter and Fox analyst. He made the audience laugh with his unique style and knowledge of the game.

It is such a sad story, and our hearts and prayers are with Mr. Syracuse’s family.
