Bizpacreview reports that a teenager from North Texas went missing on April 8 at the American Airlines Center. The girl was caught on surveillance video walking away with a man. He was missing for 11 days.

On April 18, police found the girl in a room at the Extended Stay America Hotel where she was repeatedly sold and sexually abused. The hotel is 200 miles from where he was taken, WFAA reported.

The family has filed a case against several organizations in this incident. They claimed that it could have been stopped but did not.

“He went missing for a total of 11 days,” Attorney JK Fortenberry told WFAA. He is representing the family in their case.

The attorney issued a statement naming the Dallas Mavericks, the Dallas Police Department and the American Airlines Center as groups that could have intervened to prevent the abduction but did not.

According to Fortenberry, the father tried to file a missing person’s report with the police. He was told to contact North Richland Hills police where he lives and then he was told to go home. He contacted North Richland Hills police who claimed they could not help because the incident happened in Dallas.

“The family was devastated,” Fortenberry noted. “A few days after the Dallas Police Department and the Dallas Police took no action, the family sought help from the agency in Houston.”

They found their daughter in Houston with the help of the Texas Counter-Trafficking Initiative, a human trafficking agency that used facial-recognition technology in accordance with WFAA.
