The New York Post reports that two college baseball players died in a horrific head-on collision on the streets of Georgia on Saturday, hours after their team won the conference title.

Stephen Bertolotta, 18, and Jacob Brown, 19, both of LaGrange College, were killed in an accident on Roanoke Road in LaGrange around 9:15 p.m., according to Georgia State Patrol.

Brown, who was on the mound for Saturday’s game, was behind the wheel when he tried to cross a double yellow line in front of a car, but was hit by a pickup truck heading in the opposite direction, police said.

The driver of the pickup truck, Rico Dunn (24), also died in the wreckage.

Both Brown and Bertolota were pronounced dead at the scene.

Dan, who celebrated his sister’s birthday on the same day, was taken to an area hospital, where he died of his injuries early Sunday morning, according to WSB-TV.

A spokesman for the team said the players were devastated and there were no words to describe their pain.
